FAMILY RESCUE is Hiring a Development & Communications Associate Near Chicago, IL
The Communication & Development Associate develops and maintain an organized system to raise the annual operating budget of the agency through private fundraising for the agency. The Communication & Development Associate will develop and manage resources to sustain the long-term financial health of the agency. They will be responsible for ensuring the agency is marketed to both public and private entities and that the image of the agency is portrayed in a positive light. This position will also requires someone with strong written and verbal communications skill; and have skills in Grant Writing.
Full-Time Non-Exempt, Prefer Masters Degree in Communications/Public Relations but will accept a BA degree with 2 years of relevant experience. Must be experience in writing, searching and executing Grants. Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret common and technical journals, reports and legal documents. Fundraising and Marketing experience required. Ability to work some evenings/weekends. Bilingual in Spanish a plus. Attractive salary with generous benefits.

- Must have the ability to communicate effectively to diverse group(s) of people in varied settings; including public speaking.

Programming assists families in breaking the cycle of homelessness due to violence by providing trauma sensitive counseling and case management, and help in the transition to permanent housing. RAP is a subsidized supportive housing program with an on-site after school program. This program is a national model which operates under the theory that women with children who are traumatized by domestic violence and are then forced into homelessness have very specific needs and face unique barriers in developing and maintaining a sustainable lifestyle. LAP supports a victim's attempt to end a violent relationship by gaining access to the criminal justice system and act on behalf of victims and their children, ensuring their safety and rights are protected under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act. Staff members provide court accompaniment, advocacy with law enforcement and judicial personnel, assistance in obtaining orders of protection and crisis counseling. COR provides portable domestic violence services that go to where victims gather in the community in addition to providing on-site services. Services are provided in both English and Spanish. Group counseling is offered at several locations in the city and suburbs.
